We’re back at Dark Forest, the Netherlands. A rainy day with some showers. And by that I don’t mean BB showers 😉
First things first: the games. At Dark Forest you have, from time to time, themed skirms. A good example is La Casa de ATCX, say, the airsoft version of La Casa de Papel, a popular Netflix series. What we needed to do? During the morning, we had to collect cash that was hidden in the field. That started with a hiss, because we weren’t able to find them LOL. Apparently we were really blind from what the marshalls said. The other team had found a lot of money. Okay, that was bad… Really bad…
After the lunch break, we had to collect a ‘bomb’ and needed to blow up the bank, so stopping the other team from getting all the cash in there. Not sure how we managed not blowing it up, but yeah, it didn’t work. Lastly, we played a more aggressive game in only a quarter of the field. We had to take more ground than the enemy team in order to win. Now that’s where it got interesting because we were able to pull it off thanks to some heavy pushing. That was the most fun part of the day! 😉 Besides talking to the marshalls during the rain breaks (yeah, we had some heavy rain).
There were a few points during this skirm that made it not quite a lot of fun as it should be. First thing: snipers. Yeah I know, snipers on this map, very usefull. But not when all snipers were in the same team. First, during the briefing there were only 2, after the teams were divided, there were 7. All in the same team. Fair? Not so much. Secondly, taking hits is for some people apparently hard, especially those snipers. You see them cringe when hit, but they don’t call it and just keep standing there shooting at you or at team members.
Two perfect examples: my team mate shot a guy 3 times and hit him 3 times, but he still keeps shooting 3 of our team members before considering calling his hit. Second example: I shot a guy with a full auto spray, I see him cringe due to being hit multiple times and what does he do? He just casually keeps laying next to a tree. Don’t you just love airsoft?
No hard feelings towards ATCX here, far from. After reporting the issues to them, they weren’t too happy about it and were fast to react. During the afternoon, they switched out the team players so that the number of snipers were equal and they were doing extra checks to see whether or not you take your hit.
All in all, we had a good day. Too bad for the weather and the issues in the morning. But, to end in a positive note, we’ll be going there again because we love it there!
